COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Climate Change Science and Management program provides students with the skills and knowledge to address the complex challenges posed by climate change using a scientific and management-focused approach. In the first semester, students develop a strong foundation in environmental data analysis and spatial tools through modules such as GIS for Environmental Management, while also exploring the science of climate systems and hydrometeorology to understand extreme weather events and their impacts. They study future climate scenarios and strategies to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, building the ability to model and assess environmental risks. In the second semester, the program emphasizes applied and professional skills, including research methods, geospatial risk modelling, and translating climate science into practical strategies for adaptation and mitigation. Students also engage with economic modelling and policy development, linking scientific insights with decision-making frameworks to inform sustainable development practices. The course culminates in a substantial dissertation, allowing students to undertake independent research and apply their knowledge to real-world climate challenges. By integrating scientific analysis, management tools, and policy applications, this MSc equips graduates to pursue careers in climate risk management, environmental consultancy, sustainability planning, and research, providing the expertise required to tackle the urgent global issue of climate change.
