COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to work at the forefront of biotechnology, biomedical engineering, and bioprocessing industries. The program combines theoretical study with extensive practical experience to prepare graduates for roles in research, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and sustainable bioprocessing. In the first semester, students develop a solid foundation through compulsory modules in laboratory techniques for biotechnology and biomedical engineering, fundamentals of biotechnology and genetic engineering, and research methods, with the option to study drug delivery or biomedical analytical technologies. This equips students with essential laboratory and analytical skills and introduces them to key concepts in biotechnology and genetic engineering. In the second semester, students build on this knowledge with compulsory modules in downstream processing, advanced biochemical engineering, and technological entrepreneurship, alongside a substantial MSc project, allowing them to apply their skills to real-world challenges. Optional modules in product design, advances in biomaterials, or basic science and regenerative therapy enable students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience, develop critical problem-solving abilities, and engage with industry-relevant practices, ensuring they are well-prepared for careers in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical development, and related fields, or for further academic research.
