COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Analytical Chemistry program offers a comprehensive and industry-relevant curriculum designed to equip students with advanced skills in modern analytical techniques and their applications across multiple sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biomedical sciences, and environmental analysis. In the first semester, students gain foundational knowledge and hands-on experience through compulsory modules such as research methods, separation techniques, and mass spectrometry, which develop their understanding of core analytical processes and laboratory practices. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, including pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism, drug targets, design and synthesis, or biomedical analytical technologies, providing exposure to specialised areas of modern chemistry. The second semester focuses on consolidating practical and professional expertise, with a compulsory module in professional skills and a substantial dissertation project, giving students the opportunity to undertake independent research or applied development projects in line with industrial practice. Additional optional modules, such as spectroscopy and structural analysis or innovations in analytical science, further enhance technical knowledge and problem-solving capabilities.
