COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications to prepare students for careers in the dynamic chemical and process industries. In the first semester, students focus on the modelling of chemical engineering systems and research methods, building a strong foundation in analytical and problem-solving skills. Optional modules such as mixing of fluids and particles, drug delivery and targeting, and process intensification allow students to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest and gain exposure to advanced engineering techniques. The second semester emphasizes the optimisation and design of chemical processes through modules on advanced process design and product design, equipping students with the skills to improve efficiency and performance in industrial operations. The program culminates in a substantial MSc project, providing an opportunity to conduct independent research and apply learned principles to real-world problems. Additional optional modules, including cloud enterprise resource planning systems, colloid science and engineering, downstream processing, advanced biochemical engineering, and clean energy, materials, and sustainability, allow students to specialise further and align their learning with emerging industry trends. By combining a rigorous understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals with applied skills and industry-relevant knowledge, the course prepares graduates to meet the demands of sectors such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, energy, food production, and sustainable process development.
