COURSE CURRICULUM

The MArch Architecture (Professional) program combines rigorous academic study with intensive design practice to prepare students for professional careers in architecture. In the first year, students engage in Reflective Practice, Contemporary Cities: Theory and Design, and Transdisciplinary Design, which together provide a foundation in critical thinking, urban theory, and collaborative problem-solving. The core component, Design Studio M1, enables students to apply these skills through hands-on design projects, fostering creativity, technical proficiency, and conceptual development. In the second year, students progress to Design Studio M2, a more advanced and immersive studio experience that challenges them to tackle complex architectural and urban design problems, integrating sustainability, technological innovation, and social responsibility. Complementing studio work, the Research Dissertation allows students to investigate a specific area of architectural theory or practice in depth, developing analytical, research, and communication skills essential for professional practice. Global Futures: Climate and Architecture prepares students to address pressing environmental challenges, considering the impact of climate change and sustainable design strategies on the built environment. Technical Appraisal provides practical knowledge of construction, materials, and building systems, ensuring that students can translate conceptual designs into feasible architectural solutions. By combining design excellence, research expertise, and technical competence, the program equips graduates to enter the profession as innovative, reflective, and industry-ready architects capable of shaping the future of architecture globally.
