COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Digital Media and Communication offers a comprehensive curriculum that equips students with the knowledge and skills to understand and critically engage with today’s media and communication landscape. In the first semester, students explore key areas such as contemporary media, the promotional industries, and media users and cultural industries, while also selecting an optional module in areas like media professions or digital economies. The second semester builds on this with a focus on political communication in the digital age, effective communication strategies, and the study of texts and digital platforms, complemented by optional modules covering media representations, identity and culture, or the relationship between data, power and democracy. Throughout the program, students can choose between completing a traditional academic dissertation or a workplace-focused dissertation, providing flexibility depending on career aspirations. This structure ensures that students not only gain theoretical understanding but also practical insight into the ways digital and traditional media shape society, culture, and politics. By developing expertise in research, critical analysis, and communication, graduates are well-prepared for roles in media, public relations, policy, marketing, and other communication-related industries, as well as for further academic study or research careers in media and communication studies.
