COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Applied Storytelling program combines practical skill development with critical reflection to prepare students for impactful work in diverse professional and community settings. In the first semester, students focus on foundational skills through modules such as Digital Storytelling for Creative Practice, which equips them with the ability to use digital media effectively in storytelling projects, and Performative Writing, which develops creative writing techniques and expressive performance skills. Research Methods for Storytelling provides students with the tools to critically evaluate and apply storytelling practices, encouraging evidence-based approaches and thoughtful engagement with cultural, social, and ethical contexts. In the second semester, students apply their learning through Transferring Theory into Practice, a module designed to integrate theoretical understanding with hands-on creative projects, enabling students to test and refine storytelling approaches in real-world contexts. Co-creative Community Practices further enhances this practical experience, emphasizing collaboration, community engagement, and socially responsive storytelling. Through this structure, the program ensures that graduates develop not only technical storytelling and creative skills but also the capacity for critical thinking, reflection, and ethical practice.
