COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Physics degree provides a thorough and flexible education in both fundamental and applied physics, allowing students to tailor their studies according to their interests. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation through modules such as Mathematics for Physics, Fundamentals of Laboratory Physics, Computational Physics, and Core Physics covering the basics of particles, fields, and the scientific method. This year emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical laboratory skills. In the second year, the program advances into specialized areas with modules in Quantum Physics, Thermal and Statistical Physics, Solid State Physics, Astrophysics and Astronomy, and Advanced Computational Modelling, alongside laboratory work designed to develop experimental and analytical capabilities. This stage integrates mathematical methods with physical principles, preparing students for advanced study and research. In the third year, students undertake both a group project and a final year research project, providing opportunities for independent investigation and collaboration. Optional modules allow further specialization in areas such as advanced statistical physics, condensed matter, nuclear physics, photonics, medical physics, high-energy particle physics, and the physics of nanodevices. The program also offers opportunities for broader academic development through a language program. Graduates emerge with strong analytical, practical, and problem-solving skills, ready for careers in research, technology, and applied physics or for further postgraduate study.
