COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics BSc (Hons) degree provides a structured and comprehensive study of mathematics, progressing from foundational topics to advanced areas while offering opportunities for specialization. In the first year, students establish a strong base through modules such as Analysis, Linear Algebra, Mathematical Thinking, Geometry and Groups, Probability, Mechanics, and Computing with Numerical Methods. These courses introduce essential techniques in pure and applied mathematics, ensuring the development of problem-solving, logical reasoning, and quantitative skills. In the second year, the program advances into more specialized areas with modules such as Rings and Polynomials, Differential Geometry, Complex Analysis, Probability Theory, Analytical Dynamics, and Topology, alongside options in applied statistics, computational methods, and mathematics education. Communication of mathematics also becomes a focus, preparing students to present complex ideas clearly. In the final year, students choose between completing an extended Mathematics Project or a Mathematics Report, both of which allow for independent research and in-depth study. A wide range of optional modules enables further specialization, covering areas such as algebra, number theory, dynamical systems, operational research, statistics, financial mathematics, medical applications, and mathematical biology. This flexible curriculum equips graduates with advanced analytical and technical skills, preparing them for diverse careers or postgraduate study.
