COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Mathematics and Physics degree is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in both disciplines while allowing for increasing specialization in later years. In the first year, students develop essential skills through modules such as Mathematics for Physics I, Analysis, Core Physics covering fundamental and classical principles, Computational Physics, and Fundamentals of Laboratory Physics. This balance of theory, computation, and practical lab work introduces key mathematical techniques alongside the study of particles, fields, and foundational physics concepts. The second year builds on this base with Mathematics for Physics II, more advanced analysis, and further exploration of physics through modules on quantum mechanics, thermal and statistical physics, and solid-state physics. Students also gain valuable experience in laboratory design and advanced computational modelling, preparing them for applied and research-based challenges. In the final year, the focus shifts to independent and collaborative work through a group project and an individual final year project, complemented by a wide range of optional modules. These options allow students to specialize in areas such as differential geometry, number theory, dynamical systems, nuclear physics, photonics, condensed matter, or medical physics. This comprehensive curriculum equips graduates with strong analytical, computational, and scientific skills for diverse career paths.
