COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Geography with Economics degree offers a dynamic and interdisciplinary curriculum that combines the study of geographical processes with the analytical foundations of economics. In the first year, students build essential knowledge in macroeconomics, microeconomics, and quantitative methods, while also developing academic and professional skills through modules such as economic and political geography, practising geography, cartography, earth system science, social and cultural geography, and environmental hazards. The second year deepens the focus on economics with modules in the history of economic thought and the economics of the financial system, while students can also explore a variety of geography options, including remote sensing, globalisation, environmental systems, research methods, and urban or river studies. This allows for flexibility to specialise in either human or physical geography alongside economic studies. The final year gives students the chance to integrate their learning, with options such as financial economics, international economic relations, and a dissertation in geography. Students also study the economics of social issues while selecting from advanced geography topics including climate change, conservation, rural futures, and global mobilities. This combination equips graduates with critical analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers in policy, environment, business, and international development.
