COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Geography and Sport Science degree offers a balanced and interdisciplinary approach, allowing students to study both the physical and social dimensions of geography alongside the scientific foundations of sport and exercise. In the first year, students develop essential academic and professional skills, while core modules introduce key areas such as earth system science, economic and political geography, social and cultural geography, environmental hazards, and the fundamentals of sport, exercise, and teaching physical education. The second year expands learning through optional modules in areas such as globalisation, remote sensing, environmental management, landforms, and human geography research, complemented by sport science options such as fitness training, movement skills, and diversity in sport. Fieldwork and applied practice strengthen analytical and practical skills. By the final year, students can choose from a wide range of optional modules, enabling them to specialise in themes such as climate change, conservation, urban and rural geographies, sporting cultures, applied sport science, health, pedagogy, and policy. The option to complete a dissertation provides an opportunity to link geography and sport science in an independent research project. This degree equips students with versatile knowledge and transferable skills, preparing them for careers in sport, education, environmental consultancy, public health, or further study.
