COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Economics and Finance degree provides a comprehensive understanding of economic theory and financial practice, equipping students with the skills necessary to succeed in the global financial sector. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in macroeconomics, microeconomics, quantitative economics, statistics, and data analysis, with optional modules covering mathematics for economics and introductory accounting, law, and organisational behaviour. The second year develops intermediate economic knowledge, including macroeconomics, microeconomics, financial economics, econometrics, and sustainable economic development, while offering optional modules in international economic relations, the economics of financial systems, programming for business analytics, and company law, allowing students to tailor their studies to specific interests. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics such as financial economics and asset pricing, corporate finance and derivatives, applied econometrics, and research and communication skills, with a wide range of optional modules including behavioural economics, international trade, environmental economics, managerial economics, and development economics. Throughout the degree, students cultivate analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills, enabling them to interpret complex data, make informed financial and economic decisions, and communicate insights effectively. Graduates are prepared for careers in banking, investment, corporate finance, economic consultancy, financial regulation, and other roles where economic and financial expertise is essential in a rapidly evolving, globalised marketplace.
