COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Engineering Management degree offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the technical knowledge, managerial skills, and professional expertise needed to excel in the construction industry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules in professional skills, law and economics for the built environment, construction technology, design and construction practice, site surveying, and project initialisation, as well as materials and structures. The second year focuses on developing deeper technical and managerial competencies with modules in advanced construction technology, planning, estimating and cost management, sustainable building design, construction project delivery, building services technology, professional practice, collaborative design management, and digital construction management. In the final year, students consolidate their learning and apply their knowledge through a research dissertation, an integrative project, and modules covering modern methods of construction and conservation, teamwork and leadership, cost planning and management, management finance, and pre-construction BIM coordination. Optional modules, including construction law, contracts, and digital design and construction, allow students to tailor their learning to specific career interests. The course emphasizes real-world application, teamwork, and leadership, preparing graduates to manage complex construction projects, integrate multidisciplinary knowledge, and contribute effectively to the built environment in a dynamic and evolving industry.
