COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Computer Science and Mathematics degree integrates mathematical theory with computational practice, equipping students with a versatile skill set to tackle complex, real-world problems. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in programming, databases, software engineering, logic, linear algebra, mathematical methods, and numerical analysis, while also gaining an introduction to algorithms and artificial intelligence. The second year expands on these fundamentals, covering topics such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, object-oriented programming, formal languages, probability and statistics, linear algebra, geometry, ordinary differential equations, and calculus of variations. Optional modules in mechanics, computer graphics, complex analysis, and mathematical communication provide opportunities to deepen understanding and apply mathematical concepts in diverse contexts. In the third year, students undertake a major Computer Science and Mathematics project, applying both disciplines to real-world problems. Additional optional modules allow further specialization in areas including algorithm analysis, distributed systems, cyber security, robotics, advanced AI systems, computational methods for differential equations, game theory, mathematical biology, and finance. This course emphasizes the practical application of mathematical methods to computing problems, fostering analytical thinking, problem-solving, and computational skills. Graduates are well-prepared for careers requiring expertise in both mathematics and computer science, as well as for further study or research in interdisciplinary fields that combine these two areas.
