COURSE CURRICULUM

The Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive education in construction finance, project management, and professional practice. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in professional practice, law and economics for the built environment, construction technology, measurement, and site surveying, alongside an introduction to project initialisation and materials and structures. The second year builds on these principles with advanced modules in construction technology, planning, estimating and cost management, measurement of complex structures, construction finance, and risk assessment. Students also gain practical experience in building services technology, professional practice, and estimating, culminating in project commercial management skills. In the final year, students focus on strategic commercial management, integrating their learning through an integrative project and research dissertation. Additional modules in construction law and contract, teamwork and leadership, cost planning and management, carbon modelling, and emerging professional practices ensure graduates are prepared for the evolving demands of the construction industry. Throughout the program, students develop analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills essential for success in commercial management and quantity surveying roles. By combining technical knowledge, practical experience, and professional expertise, the course equips graduates to confidently contribute to the planning, management, and financial oversight of diverse construction projects, delivering efficiency, sustainability, and high-quality outcomes.
