COURSE CURRICULUM

The Product Design Engineering BSc (Hons) degree provides a comprehensive education in the creation, development, and manufacture of functional products, blending design, engineering, and technology. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Mathematics for Product Design Engineering, Applied Engineering, Engineering Science, Product Design Methods, Integrated Product Design, and Materials and Manufacturing Processes. These courses introduce essential engineering principles, design techniques, materials science, and manufacturing fundamentals. In the second year, students deepen their skills with modules in Engineering Science 2, Engineering and Management Modelling, Industrial Design, Manufacturing Technology, Statistics, Manufacturing Management, Software Engineering, and Design of Machine Elements, alongside Integrating Studies and Application of Product Design, emphasizing the application of theory to real-world projects. The third year focuses on independent and practical work through an Individual Project and modules including Engineering Management: Finance, Law and Quality, and Sustainable Product Lifecycle Engineering. Optional modules allow further specialization in areas such as advanced manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing, polymer engineering, finite element analysis, product innovation, industrial machine vision, healthcare and sports engineering, and advanced computer-aided design. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience in designing, testing, and managing products, combining creativity with technical knowledge. Graduates are equipped to pursue careers in product design, engineering, manufacturing, innovation, and technology-driven industries, prepared to deliver functional, sustainable, and market-ready products.
