COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering degree provides a comprehensive education in the principles and applications of engineering science, mathematics, and physics to design, analyze, and develop mechanical systems. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules in mathematics for mechanical engineering, applied engineering, mechanics, mechanical design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials and manufacturing processes. The second year advances into more applied and technical areas, including engineering computation, industry-based design projects, mechanics of materials, engineering dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, control systems, and computer-aided design and manufacturing. This stage equips students with the knowledge to address real-world engineering challenges while developing key technical and problem-solving skills. In the final year, students undertake an individual project that allows them to apply their learning to a specific area of interest. Compulsory modules in engineering management and applied design analysis provide professional and business context, while a wide range of optional modules offers specialization in areas such as robotics, mechatronics, additive manufacturing, sustainable engineering, finite element analysis, advanced heat transfer, and propulsion systems. This structure allows students to tailor their studies towards emerging technologies or industry needs. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in design, manufacturing, energy, aerospace, automotive, and research-based engineering roles.
