COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Engineering Management degree provides a comprehensive education that integrates technical engineering knowledge with management principles, preparing students to lead and manage engineering projects effectively. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in engineering mathematics, applied engineering, engineering science, technology and manufacturing management, integrated product design, and materials and manufacturing processes. This foundational knowledge enables students to understand both the technical and organisational aspects of engineering. In the second year, the focus shifts to applied management and manufacturing technologies, including global business dynamics, human resource management, manufacturing process technology, digital manufacturing, discrete event simulation, engineering and management modelling, manufacturing design and technology, statistics, manufacturing planning and control, competitive engineering strategy, and software engineering. These modules develop practical skills in problem-solving, planning, and process optimisation, combining engineering competence with business insight. The final year allows students to consolidate their learning through an individual project while studying modules such as engineering management in finance, law and quality, organisation structure and strategy, sustainable product lifecycle engineering, project management, product innovation management, lean operations and supply chain management, and sustainable product design. Optional modules in advanced computer-aided design, metrology, healthcare engineering, and sports engineering provide opportunities for specialisation. Graduates are equipped to navigate the complex technical, managerial, and strategic demands of modern engineering organisations.
