COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Energy Engineering program provides a comprehensive education in the principles and applications of modern energy systems, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to address global energy challenges. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core mathematics, programming, software engineering, applied engineering, energy technologies, and electrical and electronic systems, developing the essential analytical and technical skills required for the field. The second year focuses on advancing technical knowledge through modules in project design and management, wind and solar power, energy storage technologies, electrical power and machines, and control system design, along with advanced mathematics and engineering science, preparing students to understand and optimise energy systems. In the final year, students explore sustainability, recycling, and environmental considerations, integrating their knowledge through an individual project that allows them to tackle real-world energy engineering problems. Additional modules such as power systems and renewable energy integration, power electronics, metrology, and optional courses in systems engineering, sustainable engineering, and energy systems analysis provide specialised expertise and practical skills relevant to modern energy challenges. Graduates are well-prepared to contribute to renewable energy development, sustainable engineering projects, and the broader energy sector, addressing the global demands for secure, efficient, and environmentally responsible energy solutions.
