COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree offers a comprehensive and structured program designed to equip students with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed for a successful career in electrical and electronic engineering. In the first year, students develop a solid foundation in core mathematics, circuit analysis, fundamentals of electrical engineering, programming, digital systems, and applied engineering. Building on this, the second year focuses on electronics, project design and management, communications, advanced mathematics, electromagnetism, power conversion, networks, and control system design, combining theoretical study with hands-on experience to develop practical problem-solving skills. In the final year, students undertake an individual project to apply their learning to a real-world engineering challenge, while also exploring advanced topics such as systems engineering, engineering management, finance, law, and quality. Optional modules allow for specialisation in areas such as renewable energy systems, computer networks, embedded systems design, bioelectricity and biophotonics engineering, power electronics, cybersecurity for embedded systems, microwave communication systems, and FPGA-based electronic system design. The course emphasizes the integration of theoretical understanding with practical application, preparing graduates to design, implement, and manage complex electrical and electronic systems across a wide range of industries. Through this combination of rigorous academic training and practical experience, students are well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of modern engineering environments and technological innovation.
