COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc International Relations degree provides a comprehensive understanding of global politics, history, and international affairs, equipping students with the skills to analyse political, economic, and social challenges across the modern world. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation in political theory, historical contexts, and international relations, with compulsory modules covering contemporary world politics, power and ideology in Europe, and international political theory, alongside optional modules that explore geography, culture, and historical perspectives. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge through research-focused modules, including theories and methods in political research and research design, while also having the opportunity to select optional modules that examine globalisation, development, security, and regional political histories. The final year emphasises independent study with a compulsory dissertation, allowing students to specialise in topics of interest, complemented by optional modules exploring contemporary global issues, regional politics, terrorism, conflict management, and socio-political theories. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and an understanding of the interconnectedness of historical events and current international relations. The inclusion of optional modules and a university-wide language program allows students to tailor their studies and enhance employability, preparing graduates for careers in government, international organisations, NGOs, diplomacy, or research-focused roles in global affairs.
