COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-Registration) program is a two-year intensive course designed to prepare students for professional registration and practice in diverse health and social care settings. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in occupational therapy principles through modules such as Introduction to Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science, which explore the core values, roles, and theories underpinning the profession. The module on Human Function and Occupational Performance develops understanding of anatomy, physiology, and how these influence people’s ability to engage in everyday activities. Promoting Health and Wellbeing through Occupation focuses on the use of purposeful activities to improve quality of life, independence, and participation in various populations. In the second year, the emphasis moves toward developing professional identity and critical reflection through Autonomy, Accountability and Development of Professional Identity. The module on Person, Environment and Occupation examines how environmental and personal factors shape engagement in meaningful activities. Contemporary Issues in Occupational Therapy encourages exploration of current challenges and innovations within the field. The program concludes with a Dissertation, enabling students to apply research skills to an area of professional interest and contribute to evidence-based practice. This course equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism required for successful occupational therapy careers.
