COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Computer Science (Conversion) program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students from non-computing backgrounds with the essential skills and knowledge needed for a career in computing and technology. Core modules provide a solid foundation in key areas such as programming, computer architecture, operating systems, software system engineering, and DevOps practices, alongside advanced mathematical skills in calculus, statistics, and optimisation. Students also develop research skills and complete a dissertation, enabling them to engage in independent, in-depth study and critical analysis of computing problems. Optional modules allow students to specialise in emerging and high-demand areas such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, cybersecurity, network and infrastructure security, and data management. Practical experience is emphasised throughout the course, with hands-on projects, coding exercises, and industry-standard tools preparing students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. The program also offers an optional placement, giving students the opportunity to gain professional experience and enhance employability.
