COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Architecture (MArch) course structure at LSBU is designed to develop advanced architectural knowledge, creativity, and professional competence. In Year 1, students engage with Design 401, a core studio module that builds conceptual and technical design skills through complex architectural projects. Design 402 introduces arts, media, and digital design, encouraging students to experiment with contemporary tools and visual communication methods. The History and Theory: Critical Thinking module deepens intellectual understanding by exploring architectural discourse and critical analysis. Energy and Resource Efficiency in Design focuses on sustainable design principles, teaching students how to integrate environmental responsibility into their work. Professional Practice and Design Economics provides insights into the business, management, and legal aspects of architecture, preparing students for real-world professional practice. In Year 2, Design 501 and Design 502 expand on advanced architectural design, with an emphasis on innovation, experimentation, and cultural relevance. The Architecture and Theory: Dissertation allows students to conduct in-depth research into a topic of architectural significance, while Technology 5: Technical Thesis develops detailed technical and constructional understanding. Together, these modules blend creativity, theory, and practical application, equipping students with the critical, technical, and professional expertise needed for a successful architectural career.
