COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence program provides a comprehensive and structured curriculum that equips students with the theoretical knowledge, technical skills, and practical experience required to succeed in the rapidly evolving field of AI. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Discrete Mathematics, Fundamentals of Software Development, Fundamentals of Computer Science, Professional Practice, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Requirements Analysis and User-Centred Design. These modules develop essential programming skills, computational thinking, problem-solving abilities, and professional competencies. In the second year, students advance their knowledge with modules covering Ethics, Policy and Regulation, Statistics and Modelling, Exploratory Data Analysis, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Modelling, and Visual Analytics. This stage emphasizes analytical techniques, AI concepts, and data-driven decision-making, with the option to undertake a sandwich placement year to gain industry experience. In the final years, students focus on specialised AI and emerging technologies, including Mobile Computing, Data Scraping and Text Mining, AR/VR Technologies, and advanced Artificial Intelligence, while completing an Honours Project that allows them to apply their learning to a significant, independent research or development project. Overall, the program combines theoretical understanding, practical skills, and real-world experience, producing graduates capable of designing, implementing, and evaluating AI solutions and contributing effectively to technology-driven industries.
