COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying program provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional expertise required for a successful career in the construction industry. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through modules such as Building Services and Environmental Science, Building Survey and Inspection, Construction Technology and Materials, Construction Technology and Structures, Legal and Economic Context, and Construction Practice. These modules develop essential skills in understanding construction technologies, surveying practices, and the legal and economic frameworks governing building projects. The second year focuses on applied quantity surveying and cost management, with modules including Measurement 1 and Documentation, Building Economics, Construction Contract Law, Project Appraisal and Cost Control, Cost Planning and Tender Process, and Advanced Measurement. Students learn to manage project budgets, plan and control costs, and apply legal knowledge in practical construction contexts. In the final year, students consolidate their expertise with advanced modules such as a Research Paper, Project Management, Management of the Firm, Contract Practice and Administration, and a dedicated Quantity Surveying Project. These modules emphasize professional practice, leadership, strategic decision-making, and the application of technical and financial skills to complex construction projects.
