COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Psychology program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, cognition, and emotion, combining theoretical knowledge with practical research skills. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Psychological Research Methods 1 and 2, Introducing Psychological Approaches, Introducing and Exploring Real World Psychology, and Exploring Psychological Approaches. These modules focus on understanding key psychological theories, developing research literacy, and applying concepts to real-world contexts. In the second year, students advance their learning with modules including Psychological Research Methods 3 and 4, The Psychology of Learning and Memory, The Psychology of Feelings, The Psychology of Behaviour with Others, and The Psychology of Thinking and Communication. These courses deepen students’ knowledge of cognitive, social, and emotional processes while providing hands-on experience in research design, data collection, and analysis. In the third year, students focus on professional practice and project work, complemented by a selection of optional modules such as Psychology of Mental Health and Distress, Development of Brain and Behaviour in Infancy, Neuropsychology, Clinical Psychology, Psychology in the Criminal Justice System, and Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy. The program develops critical thinking, analytical skills, and evidence-based reasoning, preparing graduates for careers in psychology, research, clinical practice, and related fields, with the ability to apply psychological knowledge to diverse professional and societal contexts.
