COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Psychology (Forensic Psychology) program is designed to provide a thorough understanding of human behaviour, focusing on the psychological factors that influence criminal and antisocial actions. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge and research skills through modules including Psychological Research Methods 1 and 2, Introducing and Exploring Psychological Approaches, and Exploring Real World Psychology. These modules establish essential skills in critical thinking, experimental design, and the application of theory to real-world contexts. The second year builds on this foundation with advanced modules such as Psychological Research Methods 3 and 4, The Psychology of Learning and Memory, The Psychology of Feelings, The Psychology of Behaviour with Others, and The Psychology of Thinking and Communication. Students gain practical experience in research, analysis, and understanding social, cognitive, and emotional processes. In the third year, students focus on forensic applications and professional practice through modules such as Psychology in the Criminal Justice System and Psychology Professional Practice and Project, alongside a choice of three optional modules covering areas such as Neuropsychology, Psychopharmacology, Health Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Forensic Clinical Approaches, and the Psychology of Addictive Behaviours. The program equips graduates with the knowledge, analytical skills, and practical experience necessary for careers in forensic psychology, criminal justice, research, mental health, and related fields, enabling them to apply evidence-based approaches to complex behavioural and societal challenges.
