COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Psychology (Clinical Psychology) program is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, mental processes, and psychological wellbeing. In the first year, students build a foundation in core psychological principles through modules such as Psychological Research Methods 1 and 2, Introducing Psychological Approaches, Introducing and Exploring Real World Psychology, and Exploring Psychological Approaches. These modules focus on developing research skills, critical thinking, and an understanding of how psychological theories apply to everyday life. The second year deepens this knowledge with modules including Psychological Research Methods 3 and 4, The Psychology of Learning and Memory, The Psychology of Feelings, The Psychology of Behaviour with Others, and The Psychology of Thinking and Communication. Students gain advanced research skills, explore cognitive, social, and emotional processes, and apply theoretical knowledge to practical contexts. In the third year, students tailor their studies to their interests with a wide range of optional modules, including Clinical Psychology, Psychology of Mental Health and Distress, Neuropsychology, Psychopharmacology, Health Psychology, Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy, Lifespan Development, and Psychology in the Criminal Justice System, alongside a Psychology Professional Practice and Project module. The program combines scientific rigour with practical application, equipping graduates with the research, analytical, and professional skills necessary for careers in clinical psychology, mental health, research, and related fields.
