COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy program offers a structured and progressive curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience to prepare students for a professional career. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of occupational therapy through modules such as Exploring Occupation, Occupational Therapy Practice 1, Occupational Performance Analysis and Human Function, Introduction to Occupation Focused Practice, and Concepts of Interprofessional and Collaborative Practice. These modules provide a foundation in understanding human function, the role of occupation in health and wellbeing, and the importance of collaborative practice. In the second year, the focus shifts to applying knowledge in practice through Occupational Therapy Practice 2 and 3, and Delivering Occupation Focused Practice, alongside Research and Evidence-Based Practice, allowing students to develop hands-on skills in assessment, intervention, and professional decision-making while grounding practice in evidence. The final year emphasizes professional development and leadership, with modules including Professional Identity, Autonomy and Accountability, Research and Evidence-Based Practice, Occupational Therapy Practice 4, and Leadership and Service Innovation in Occupational Therapy. This final stage enables students to consolidate their practical experience, develop advanced clinical reasoning, and explore leadership and innovation in service delivery. Overall, the program equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become competent, reflective, and innovative occupational therapists capable of improving clients’ health and participation in meaningful activities.
