COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Information Technology program offers a structured curriculum designed to equip students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional expertise required to succeed in the technology industry. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through modules such as Fundamentals of Computer Science, Professional Practice, Discrete Mathematics, Requirements Analysis and User-Centred Design, Fundamentals of Software Development, and Software Development. These modules establish essential programming, problem-solving, and analytical skills while introducing professional practices. The second year focuses on applied IT skills and system development, with modules including Analysis and Design, Big Data and Database Systems, Information Systems, System Administration, Application Development, and Web Technologies. Students also have the option to undertake a sandwich placement year, gaining hands-on industry experience and applying their knowledge to real-world IT projects. In the final year, students advance their expertise through the Honours Computer Science Project, Systems and Cyber Security, and selected optional modules such as ICT Project Management in Practice, Innovation and Enterprise, Data Mining and Big Data Analytics, Content Management and Development Frameworks, Smart Internet Technologies, or AR/VR Technologies. Overall, the program combines theoretical study, practical lab experience, and industry engagement to produce graduates capable of designing, implementing, and managing IT systems while addressing the evolving needs of employers in a technology-driven world.
