COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Forensic Sciences program is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of forensic science theory, practical skills, and professional applications. In the first year, students build a foundation in key scientific principles and forensic methods through modules such as Introduction to Forensic Science, Scientific Skills, Fundamentals of Measurement and Instrumentation, Introduction to Forensic Biology, Core and Materials Science, and Introduction to Law for Forensic Scientists. These modules establish essential laboratory skills, analytical techniques, and an understanding of the legal context in which forensic science operates. In the second year, students advance their knowledge with specialized modules including Explosion, Fire and Firearms, Criminal Law for Forensic Scientists, Crime Laboratory, Crime Scene Management and Processing, Research Methods, and Measurement and Instrumentation in Forensic Analysis. These courses provide practical experience in crime scene investigation, laboratory analysis, and evidence handling, alongside research and analytical skills development. The third year focuses on integrating learning and applying it to complex scenarios through modules such as Incident Investigation, Biological Evidence, Case Assessment and Interpretation, Research Project with advanced forensic topics, and Law of Evidence for Forensic Scientists. Through hands-on practice, simulated crime scenes, and research projects, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and investigative expertise, preparing them for careers in forensic science, law enforcement, and related fields.
