COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Economics program at LSBU provides a structured three-year curriculum designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for a career in economics and related fields. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through modules such as Finance and the Economy, Business Mathematics, the LSBU Discovery Project, Economic Concepts, Management and Organisations, and Principles of Strategy, which develop analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills. The second year deepens understanding with modules like Microeconomic Modelling, The Analytical Economist, Introduction to Econometrics, Macroeconomic Modelling, Economic Policy Analysis, and The Digital Economy, enabling students to analyse complex economic problems and apply quantitative methods to real-world data. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics through Microeconomic Strategy, Macroeconomic Policy, and the Economics Project, consolidating their knowledge and demonstrating their ability to conduct independent research. Additionally, students can choose from optional modules such as Big Data Econometrics, Financial Econometrics, International Trade and Globalisation, Development Economics, Global Finance and Technology, and Behavioural Economics, allowing them to specialise according to their career interests. Throughout the program, students gain critical thinking, data analysis, and strategic insight skills, preparing them for roles in business analysis, policy development, finance, consultancy, and other sectors that demand strong economic expertise.
