COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Building Surveying program offers a structured and comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional expertise required for a career in construction and property practice. In the first year, students gain a solid foundation in construction and surveying through modules such as Building Services and Environmental Science, Building Survey and Inspection, Construction Technology and Materials, Construction Technology and Structures, Legal and Economic Context, and Construction Practice. These modules develop essential technical understanding, analytical skills, and knowledge of the regulatory and legal frameworks governing construction projects. The second year builds on this foundation with a focus on applied surveying, property management, and sustainability, covering modules such as Construction Contract Law, Estate and Property Asset Management, Planning and Development Controls, Property Inspection, Repair and Maintenance, Theory of Architecture, Design and Conservation, and Sustainable Construction and the Environment. In the final year, students consolidate their learning and develop professional expertise through advanced modules including a Research Paper, Project Management, Management of the Firm, Contract Administration, European Construction and Property, and Property Law and Valuation.
