COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology program offers a structured curriculum that combines design, technical knowledge, and professional practice to prepare students for a career in the built environment. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules such as Architectural Design and Technology 1, Building Services and Environmental Science, Construction Technology and Materials, Construction Technology and Structures, Legal and Economic Context, and Construction Practice. These modules introduce key principles of architecture, construction methods, materials, and the legal and economic factors influencing building projects. The second year builds on this foundation with modules including 3D Computer Aided Design and Building Information Modelling, Architectural Design Procedures, Construction Contract Law, Measurement, Cost Planning and Tender Process, Property Inspection, Repair and Maintenance, and Theory of Architecture, Design and Conservation. These modules enhance students’ technical expertise, design capabilities, and understanding of construction processes and professional standards. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through advanced modules such as Research Project, Contract Administration, Sustainable Construction and the Environment, Architectural Design Project, Architectural Design and Technology 2, and Architectural Practice Management. This final stage emphasizes independent research, sustainable design, project management, and professional practice, preparing students to integrate technical knowledge, design skills, and management expertise effectively.
