COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing program is structured over three years to provide a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional development necessary for a career in adult nursing. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through modules such as Biosciences for Nurses, Assessing Needs and Planning Care in Adult Nursing, Communication for Nursing, and Introducing Evidence-Based Practice in Adult Nursing, alongside supervised practice placements that allow students to apply their learning in clinical settings. The second year builds on this foundation with modules including Providing Care in Adult Nursing, Appraising Evidence-Based Practice, Applied Physiology for Adult Nursing, Promoting Health and Preventing Ill Health, and Safe and Effective Practice, complemented by further practice placements that enhance clinical competence and professional confidence. In the third year, students focus on advanced and specialised areas such as Implementing Best Practice, Enhancing and Evaluating Care, Pharmacology and Prescribing, Complex and Critical Care of Adults, and Transition to Leadership. These modules, combined with extended practice placements, enable students to develop expertise in managing complex patient needs, clinical decision-making, and leadership within healthcare teams. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience, critical thinking skills, and professional knowledge aligned with Nursing and Midwifery Council standards, preparing them to graduate as confident, skilled, and adaptable practitioners ready to deliver high-quality care in diverse adult healthcare settings.
