COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Media Production program is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive education in media creation, production, and professional practice. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge and skills through modules such as Connected Audiences, Fundamentals of Film and TV, Approaches to Film and TV, Editing and Post Production, Photographic Workflows, and Sound for Film and TV. These courses introduce essential technical skills, creative techniques, and theoretical understanding of media production. In the second year, students build on this foundation with Expanded Photographic Practice, Editing Drama, Documentary Practice, Screen Analysis, Interdisciplinary Practice, and Professional Practice and Employability, allowing them to develop advanced production skills while exploring creative collaboration and preparing for professional contexts. The third year focuses on integrating learning and applying it to substantial projects, including the Pilot Major Project, Major Project, Research Project, and Professional Practice and Portfolio. These modules enable students to demonstrate their technical expertise, creative vision, and professional readiness, producing work that reflects industry standards. Throughout the course, students develop transferable skills such as project management, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication, while producing a portfolio of original media work. Graduates leave the program equipped with the knowledge, practical experience, and professional skills required for careers in media production, film, television, digital content creation, and related industries.
