COURSE CURRICULUM

The Marketing course is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive understanding of marketing theory, practice, and professional skills. In the first year, students develop a foundation in core areas such as Principles of Marketing, Marketing in a Digital World, Finance and the Economy, Management and Organisations, Data for Decision Making, and the Discovery Project, combining academic knowledge with practical skills. The second year builds on this foundation with modules focused on understanding consumer behaviour, integrated contemporary communications, creative advertising and media planning, and media relations, alongside career development through the Your Marketing Career module. Students can also tailor their learning with options such as The Digital Economy, Managing Customer Experience, or Fundamentals of Project Management, allowing them to explore areas aligned with their interests and career goals. In the final year, students have the opportunity to undertake a one-year industry placement, gaining valuable professional experience and enhancing employability through support from the LSBU Business School Employability Team. Core modules include Managing Products and Brands, Promotional Media and Campaign Strategies, Marketing and Digital Strategy and Planning, and an Applied Project, with optional modules such as Strategic Market Channels, Social Responsibility and Ethics in Marketing, Contemporary Issues in Digital Marketing, and Volunteering. Through this combination of theoretical learning, practical projects, and industry experience, graduates are well-prepared for successful careers in marketing, digital strategy, and related business fields.
