COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Film and Television Practice course is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive blend of practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and professional preparation for a career in the film and television industry. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through core modules such as Physical Filmmaking, Fundamentals of Film and Television, Approaches to Film and Television, Documentary Practice, Editing and Montage, and Sound for Film and Television. These modules introduce essential techniques and concepts while encouraging creativity and experimentation. The second year builds on this foundation with modules including Screen Analysis, Professional Employability, Production Practices, Fiction Film, and specialism-based courses such as Screenwriting, Lighting and Electrical, and Editing Drama, allowing students to begin focusing on their chosen areas of Writing and Directing, Cinematography, or Editing and Post-Production. In the third year, students undertake a Research Project and produce a Final Film, integrating their technical, creative, and theoretical skills. Additional modules include Collaborative Screen Project, Pre-Production, Camera Department, and Advanced Editing and Visual Effects, aligned with students’ chosen specialisms. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience, collaborate on projects, and receive guidance from industry professionals. By the end of the course, graduates are equipped with technical expertise, creative vision, and professional experience, ready to pursue careers across film, television, and related media industries.
