COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physiotherapy (Pre-registration) MSc is structured across two years of study, combining academic learning with extensive clinical practice to prepare students for professional registration as physiotherapists. In the first year, students study Applied Sciences, which provides a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and other core scientific principles relevant to physiotherapy. Foundations of Professional Practice introduces the ethical, legal, and professional standards required in healthcare settings. Physiotherapy Theory and Practice 1 and 2 develop essential clinical knowledge and hands-on skills for assessing and treating patients. Practice Education 1 offers supervised clinical experience, allowing students to apply their learning in real healthcare environments. Research Methods for Practice introduces the principles of research, enabling students to critically evaluate evidence and apply it to clinical decision-making. In the second year, students progress to more advanced study through modules such as Advancing Physiotherapy Practice, which deepens clinical expertise and decision-making abilities. Leadership and Service Improvement focuses on developing leadership skills and improving healthcare services. Physiotherapy Theory and Practice 3 builds on earlier learning with more complex clinical scenarios. Practice Education 2 provides further practical experience in professional settings. Overall, the program integrates theory, research, and practice to prepare graduates for confident, competent, and evidence-based physiotherapy practice.
