COURSE CURRICULUM

The Public Health MSc modules provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary understanding of public health theory, practice and leadership. Core learning begins with an introduction to epidemiology, equipping students with the skills to analyse population health data and understand patterns of disease. Health improvement and healthcare public health explore strategies to promote wellbeing, reduce inequalities and improve health outcomes across communities. Health protection principles and practice focus on preventing and controlling health threats, while ethical issues in healthcare develop awareness of moral responsibility and professional conduct. Research methods for health and social care prepare students to design, analyse and interpret evidence, supporting informed decision making. Understanding the policy process and strategic planning and change management examine how public health policies are developed, implemented and evaluated within complex systems. Modules in leading and managing health systems and services, interprofessional practice and managing health and wellbeing in the workplace strengthen leadership, collaboration and organisational skills. Perspectives in contemporary global health and wellbeing in later life encourage critical awareness of global and demographic health challenges. The program culminates in a public health dissertation, enabling students to apply research and analytical skills to an in-depth public health issue and prepare for professional roles in public health practice and leadership.
