COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology of Mental Health MSc includes a range of modules designed to develop advanced understanding of mental health conditions, research skills, and applied therapeutic practice. Introduction to Skills Based Practice provides students with foundational professional and clinical skills needed to work effectively in mental health settings. Psychopathology focuses on the study of mental disorders, including their symptoms, causes, and classification. Research Design and Analysis for Psychology develops advanced abilities in planning studies, collecting data, and applying statistical methods to psychological research. The Research Project allows students to conduct independent, in-depth investigation into a chosen area of mental health, applying both theoretical knowledge and research skills. Resilience and Mindfulness explores psychological strategies that support wellbeing, coping, and recovery in the face of stress and adversity. Specialised Clinical Issues in Mental Health Services examines complex and contemporary challenges within mental health care systems and practice. Treatment Interventions focuses on evidence-based therapeutic approaches used to support individuals experiencing mental health difficulties. Together, these modules provide a strong combination of theory, research, and practical application. The program prepares students for further clinical training or professional roles in mental health, social care, and related healthcare services by developing analytical ability, clinical awareness, and applied psychological skills.
