COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health and Social Care Leadership and Management MSc modules provide a comprehensive framework for developing leadership, management and research skills within health and social care settings. Core learning begins with research methods for health and social care, equipping students with the tools to design, conduct and interpret research that informs policy and practice. Students explore the policy process and strategic planning and change management to understand how decisions are made, implemented and evaluated within complex health systems. Leading and managing health systems and services, along with leading self, teams and workforce, develops practical leadership and organisational skills, enabling students to manage teams, drive service improvements and support workforce wellbeing. Health improvement, healthcare public health and managing health and wellbeing in the workplace focus on population health, preventative strategies and creating healthy organisational environments. Ethical issues in healthcare encourages critical reflection on professional responsibility, decision making and moral considerations in care delivery. Interprofessional practice promotes collaboration across disciplines, fostering teamwork and effective communication in diverse care settings. Perspectives in contemporary global health expand understanding of international health challenges and trends, preparing students to apply knowledge in a global context. The program culminates in a dissertation, allowing students to integrate learning, conduct in-depth research and contribute to evidence-based improvements in health and social care leadership and management.
