COURSE CURRICULUM

The program’s modules provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary understanding of crime, mental health, and their interconnections. Criminological Research Methods equips students with the skills to design and conduct research, forming the basis for the Criminology Dissertation, where they investigate a chosen topic in depth. Critical and Justice Issues in Criminology explores key debates and challenges within criminal justice systems, encouraging critical evaluation of policies and practices. Psychology and Crime examines the relationship between psychological processes and criminal behaviour, while Psychopathology focuses on mental health disorders and their relevance to offending. Crime, Risk and Prevention addresses strategies for reducing crime and managing risk within communities and institutions. Explaining Violence explores the causes and patterns of violent behaviour from social, psychological, and biological perspectives. Terrorism and Radicalisation Studies examines the factors that lead individuals and groups toward extremist ideologies and actions, as well as responses to these threats. Together, these modules provide a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge, research skills, and practical insight, enabling students to understand and address complex issues at the intersection of criminology and mental health, and preparing them for careers in criminal justice, rehabilitation, and related fields.
