COURSE CURRICULUM

The Woman and Child Abuse MA includes a diverse set of modules that explore violence, vulnerability, safeguarding, and intervention strategies from interdisciplinary perspectives. Researching Violence and Evaluating Interventions focuses on methods for studying violence and assessing the effectiveness of support programs and policies. Sexual Exploitation of Children and Young People examines the causes, dynamics, and prevention of exploitation in different social contexts. Sexual Violence: Causes, Consequences and Interventions explores the impact of sexual violence and the approaches used to support survivors and reduce harm. Violence Against Women: Issues, Research and Policy analyses the structural, social, and political dimensions of gender-based violence. The Woman and Child Abuse Dissertation allows students to conduct independent research on a related topic. Creative Nonfiction develops skills in reflective and narrative writing, often used in advocacy and research communication. Gender, Victimisation and Crime examines how gender influences experiences of crime and victimisation. Additional modules such as Healthcare Public Health, Human Rights and the International Order, Human Security, and Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking & Organised Crime provide a broader global and policy context. Policies and Regulatory Framework for Safeguarding focuses on legal protections, while Psychology and Crime, Radicalisation and Counter-radicalisation Strategies, and Vulnerabilities and Risks explore behavioural, social, and security-related dimensions. Together, these modules prepare students for careers in policy, research, advocacy, and safeguarding practice.
