The Product Design MA includes a set of modules that combine creative exploration, research, and professional practice to support the development of advanced product design skills. Design Project Development focuses on guiding students through the process of generating, refining, and resolving product design ideas into fully developed outcomes. Material Culture examines the relationship between people and objects, exploring how materials, artefacts, and designed products reflect cultural meaning, identity, and everyday use. Project as Professional Practice: Product Design connects academic learning with real-world industry practice, helping students understand professional expectations, workflows, and responsibilities within the product design field. Research Methods: Success in Design develops essential skills in research planning, methodology, and critical analysis, enabling students to support their design work with strong evidence and structured thinking. Charismatic Objects explores why certain products gain emotional, cultural, or symbolic significance, and how this influences user experience and perception. Design for Change encourages students to use design as a tool for innovation and social or environmental impact, addressing contemporary global challenges through creative solutions. Together, these modules provide a balanced integration of theory, research, and practice, enabling students to develop innovative, reflective, and professionally informed product design work suitable for a wide range of creative industries.
