COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Technology and Production (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) program is structured over four years, beginning with a foundation year that develops essential creative and technical skills. In Year 0, students explore modules such as Media Contexts, Music Production, Music Theory, Music Video Production, and creative tools like InDesign, alongside Writing for Media, helping them build a strong foundation and creative portfolio. In Year 1, students develop core music production skills through modules including Audio Theory and Practice, Electronic Music Production, Introduction to Mixing and Mastering, Music Theory for Songwriters, Sound Design, and Digital Skills, as well as gaining insight into the music industry and academic research. In Year 2, the focus shifts to more advanced and applied topics such as Advanced Music Production, Advanced Songwriting, Recording Studio Practice, Sound Design for Games, and Location Sound, alongside opportunities to explore related media areas like podcasting and film. In Year 3, students engage with specialised and professional-level work, including Advanced Studio Engineering, Audio Mastering, and Music Production Portfolio Development, while completing a creative or research dissertation project. Additional modules support career development and broader media knowledge. Overall, the program equips students with technical expertise, creative skills, and industry awareness for careers in music production and related fields.
