COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) program is structured over four years, beginning with a foundation year that builds essential skills and progressing to advanced mathematical study. In Year 0, students are introduced to key areas such as Mathematics, Programming, Cyber Security Fundamentals, and the basics of Robotics and the Internet of Things, providing a strong base in both theoretical and applied concepts. In Year 1, students develop core mathematical knowledge through modules including Calculus, Linear Algebra, Data Analysis, Financial Mathematics, Graph Theory, Mathematical Proofs, and MAPLE Programming, alongside IT applications for mathematics. Year 2 deepens this understanding with more advanced topics such as Differential Equations, Further Calculus, Group Theory and Vector Spaces, and Statistical Methods and Modelling Markets, while also incorporating Project Management to develop organisational and practical skills. In Year 3, students explore specialised and higher-level areas including Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, Cryptography and Number Theory, Financial Modelling and Forecasting, and Mathematics of Infinity, with options such as Category Theory and Error Correcting Codes. The course also includes an Academic Independent Study and Career Development Learning. Overall, the program equips students with strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills for careers or further study.
