COURSE CURRICULUM

The Digital Forensics and Cyber Security BSc (Hons) degree with a foundation year is a four-year program designed to provide students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience required for careers in cyber security and digital forensics. In Year 0, the foundation year introduces essential concepts, including Cyber Security Fundamentals, Mathematics, Programming, and an Introduction to Robotics and the Internet of Things, establishing a strong base for further study. Year 1 builds on this foundation with modules such as Computer Hardware and Software Architectures, Fundamentals of Computing, Introduction to Information Systems, Logic and Problem Solving, and Programming, developing core computing and analytical skills. Year 2 focuses on applied and specialised topics, including Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things, Computer and Mobile Forensics, Cyber Security in Computing, Network Forensics and Incident Response, Professional and Ethical Issues, Risk, Crisis and Security Management, and Smart Data Discovery, providing practical knowledge and insight into contemporary security challenges. In Year 3, students advance into high-level and professional practice modules such as Digital Investigation and E-Discovery, Ethical Hacking, Network and Cloud Security, Career Development Learning, and a major Project, integrating theoretical learning with hands-on experience. The program combines academic study, technical expertise, and industry-focused training, preparing graduates to work effectively in cyber security, forensic investigation, and related IT fields, equipped with practical skills and professional competence.
